Danshi Koukousei No Nichijou: Episode 4

High School Girls vs. High School Boys

The show starts with Tadakuni lazing at his house doing absolutely nothing. Sadly, that is exactly what high school boys sometimes do when they are alone with nothing to do.

  • High School Boys and Evesdropping – Tadakuni spots Hidenori and Yoshitake talking at some steps. Curious as to what they talk about when he is around, Tadakuni eavesdrops the conversation. The conversation goes to various topics from sex talk to politics. When they were about to leave, Tadakuni wishes to be a part of their conversation. However, they people he was eavesdropping were not Hidenori and Yoshitake, but look-likes.
  • High School Boys and the Culture Festival 1- Ringo, the class president of East High All-Girls School, along with other members of the student wish to talk to the student council of North High All-Boys School about future plans with their co-op Culture Festival. The other members are quite scared because they have never been to an all boys school, but Ringo does not mind. The three enter the student council room, only to see its members playing cards. Due to their intense and scary persona, the girls quickly leave at first, but return only to have the room immediately cleaned and set for their guest with hot tea and pound cake. Ringo was taken back by their hospitable behavior, thinking about the difference between male and female high school student’s behavior. The president informs the members that they were invited here for some talk about what to do for the group cultural festival. Ringo informs him that they will defeat them in the culture festival.
  • High School Boys and the Culture Festival 2 – Today is the Culture Festival, but Ringo is flustered because the boys have done a remarkable job at the festival, to her surprise. The president shows Ringo and the girls to their haunted house, their prized work for the culture festival. Because they applied so much work, Ringo goes in and makes sure not to scream during the exhibition. The haunted house proves too much for the girls, but Ringo continues through without screaming until she meets the president in the middle of changing to his costume.
  • High School Boys and the Culture Festival 3 – Yoshitake and Ikushima were working at the reception desk. Nothing was happening there, and the two only made quick small chats. Ikushima goes on to describe, in her mind, what high school boys are and their faults. Yoshitake asks for a break, and the vice-president, who looks similar to him except for his face and skin color, takes the position. Ikushima easily mistakes them to be the same person and apologizes.
  • High School Boys and the Culture Festival 4 – At the main theater, Ringo believes that their drama club is superb, but, it terms in interesting storytelling, it seems quite low as most of the students were sleeping or yawning. The president tells Ringo to relax and have fun. He also taunts her, telling her that the boys would beat them in anything the girls try to do. Ringo, obviously angered, quickly takes the president on, to which he agrees. As they were fighting, the vice president believes that everything is over, yet everyone in the theater was enjoying it. Toshiyuki asks the Light Music Band to play some BGM, to which they agreed to. After a long fight, Ringo wins the match. Toshiyuki made it seem as though it was part of the program so that none would report that a fight broke out between the two schools.
  • High School Boys and Counseling – Coming out from their part-time job, Tadakuni talks to Nago about his distant relationship between Yoshitake and Hidenori. Nago asks if she should talk to them about it in his stead, but Tadakuni does not wish for her to go so far. During their walk, Tadakuni spots Yoshitake and Hidenori once again. Nago gives him the push needed to go and talk to them. Tadakuni stops them once more, but, again, they were the same look-alikes from before.
  • Humor – Yanagin, Habara, and Ikushima talk about high school boys. Yanagin states how pathetic and depressing they are. Ikushima finds them acting cool lame. Habara states that they make things difficult than they appear. Yanagin and Ikushima goes outside to confront with a high school boy that was living next to Habara’s house, Toshiyuki. The two asks him rude question such as why he tries so hard to live. To quiet them, Toshiyuki throws chocolate and sweets outside his window. The two quickly go for the sweets and start eating them. Habara is highly embarrassed, telling the two that they look so pitiful in their state.

I have but one thing to say: Toshiyuki is easily bumped up to some of my favorite guys in anime, from quickly resolving a possible crisis to throwing candy out the window to silence the girls.
